A flatrack container is a piece of equipment used to ship products internationally when the cargo cannot fit inside a standard container. A flatrack only has walls or support post on the ends, which allows for the loading of cargo from the top and/or sides.
In addition to flat racks being available in two dimensions, there are also two different types. Fixed end flat racks and collapsible flat racks. A fixed end flat rack has fixed ends on the short sides. As fixed end flat racks are often stronger in construction, they can endure a greater top loads.
Flat racks are also known as platform trailers or flatbed trailers. They are designed with a flat, level surface that is perfect for hauling large or heavy loads. The sides of the flat rack are typically removable, which makes them ideal for loading and unloading with a crane or forklift.
